What is a Gundam?!

195 years after man placed permanent space colonies in, well, outer space, man had developed war machines called mobile suits. These mobile suits are man-controlled "robots" that are equipped with high tech war technology. Unknown to the United Earth Sphere Alliance, the ruler of the world, five scientists had made an extraordinary breakthrough in mobile suit technology. They had made mobile suits out of gundanium alloy. Gundam alloy is a strong metal that can withstand huge amounts of damage. These mobile suits made of gundanium alloy became known as Gundams.
